 |  | James Buchanan Foundation for the Preservation of Wheatland Grant Amount: $15,000 Fund: Discretionary Contact Person for Grant: Patrick Clarke Description of Program: This grant is serving to engage scholars and educators with an in-service at the President James Buchanan National Symposium; a program that grew from a partnership with the Lancaster County Historical Society. Participants will define unique ways to integrate presidential history in existing curriculum. Organizational Mission: The James Buchanan Foundation is dedicated to the cultural enrichment of the community by sharing the home, life and legacy of James Buchanan, the 15th President of the United States. In doing so the Foundation seeks to raise awareness of the principles, accomplishments and challenges of James Buchanan during his tenure as the 15th President of the United States, Statesman, International Diplomat, attorney, and family patriarch. To accomplish this mission the Foundation preserves James Buchanan’s Wheatland estate and presents engaging programs and experiences to interpret the intimate aspects of Mr. Buchanan’s private and business life, his challenges and successes as President and his role as leader of the national Democratic Party and international diplomat. |
