 Who is YOUR Community Foundation?

The Lancaster County Community Foundation uses its resources to Create Extraordinary Community by working collaborativley with donors, nonprofit organizations, and community leaders to seek out and act on opportunities that improve the quality of life of County residents in profound and impactful ways.

To Create Extraordinary Community in Lancaster County, we have adapted the following philosophies that guide our efforts.

  • Seek out and act on opportunities rather than only address problems or needs
  • Always be highly collaborative in our approach
  • Serve as a catalyst and a facilitator
Define our role as providing support, voice, resources, expertise, partnerships, knowledge and access
  • Commit to knowledge sharing

Every day, the Community Foundation is helping individuals, businesses, nonprofit organizations and other foundations meet their charitable goals. We are privileged to facilitate the philanthropic spirit in Lancaster County. The Community Foundation is an independent nonprofit organization governed by a board of 11 volunteer civic leaders.

Since 1924, we have been serving as a vehicle for donors, volunteers and community members to identify important issues, share ideas and build the financial resources to make positive long-term change. We are building permanent community capital in the form of endowments that create a base of stable financial support for the county.

Since our founding, the Community Foundation has distributed more than $20 million to support thousands of charitable activities. The Foundation has grown to over $65 million in assets and holds more than 125 funds established by individuals, families, businesses, nonprofit organizations and private foundations. We provide a flexible way to give back to your community.
